The Vienna Children's Theatre was established in 1994 by Sylvia Rotter with the aim to awaken a fascination for great literature in children and young adults aged 5-18. The unique thing about it: only children stand in the spotlight.

 

Open to children and young people irrespective of their social background or level of theatrical skills, the Vienna Children's Theatre intends to educate and animate both participants and audience. Since its foundation it has proved that there is still a place for classical literature in the modern world.

Up to the present day, the Vienna Children's Theatre has put on stage 15 main productions and more than a dozen side productions and guest performances.

 

Starting with weekend workshops, the children work to produce a final fully fledged theatre presentation each year. The activities offered by the Vienna Children's theatre give children a healthy, active and stimulating option for their leisure time.
